Loudest shows the hard news the world's newsrooms are covering, read every ten minutes, clustered into stories and sized by how widely each is covered. This page is an interactive map and needs JavaScript. Without it: the archive has each completed day's 400 most covered stories as pages, JSON and CSV; the data page documents every field and the CC BY 4.0 licence; the methodology describes how stories are formed, scored and ranked; the sources page lists every outlet read.

About Loudest

Loudest shows what the world's press is shouting about right now, in hard news. Celebrity gossip and football scores stay out, unless there is something bigger behind them. Well, mostly.

The bigger the tile, the more countries and outlets are on the story. The more it stands out, the fresher it is. The triangles tell you whether it is getting louder or quieter.

One screen for what is actually moving the world today. The nuts and bolts are in the methodology.
